Over-the-Counter Sale of Emergency Contraceptives
Grade Level-9-12, College
Subject-Consumer Health
Duration- 1hr and 10 min
Objective- To show the importance of Plan B being sold over the counter.
Materials: Pen, Paper, and a class willing to participate
Procedures:
Have the class take a piece of paper, cut it into 2 pieces
Have them right down the grade the would like to receive for the class on one
on the other sheet have them right down 3 terrible things they would do to the teacher if they did not receive that grade
Make them bald both up and pass it to the person behind them, and without looking at the paper have that person choose one and turn it in.
Have the teacher leave the room and go to an unknown place
Have everyone open up the other sheets and see what is left.
The people that have their desired grades are in trouble. They have the rest of the time period to find the teacher. Explain what is going on, and convince the teacher to overlook their comments.
Description: This activity is to show that the 72 hour time frame for Plan B, adds pressure to the impregnated patient. They have to realize that the mistake has occurred and then go on a hunt to find a physician that is available on weekends, or a pharmacy that sells this form of contraception. Let’s say that it’s Friday and the paper that you turned in determines what grade you get for the semester. Saturday and Sunday you can not get in touch with the teacher and the deadline for grades are Monday. What do you do? Do you want to take the class over, and ruin all your plans of graduating? This can easily be converted into the thoughts of the women, and her situation. Wouldn’t it be easier if you could just go the teacher’s office, or a pharmacy that carries Plan B.
Technology Use: Have each student use the world wide web to search and find 3 stores that carry Plan B. Have them create an excel document listing the address, phone number, and store manager. Also have them discuss the trouble they had finding the providers.
Evaluate- Read and make sure all listed contacts carry Plan B

Week 8 Midterm and Power Point
I have not taken the midterm yet. Therefore I can not answer this question. Compared to my other midterms i would not think this midterm would be that hard.
The websites that CK provided for rules of an power point were very affective. They provided a lot of information that I will use in my presentation. The three rules that I thought were important were creating a logical flow to your presentation, respecting time limits, and sticking with a basic design. These things makes your presentation short and direct. There is no need to spend time elaborating on a topic that means nothing. Discuss the key points that you are trying to get across.

week 7
I believe that educators should do their best to match today's technology in the classroom. I have no problem with the idea, as long as course objectives are being taught and understood by students. Technology have made learning easier and more fun. Online chats can be a plus or minus. They will only work if the teacher enforces rules.Overall I think it is a distraction.
I prefere Asychronous communication over sychronous, because it allow the student time to respond. face-to-face is the best. Videogames and studying-does not sound right. I believe that it is only as affective, as the student allows it to be. Videogames would help me study, because I need things to keep me excited about learning. On the other hand, some people are different. I have no problem with video games, as long as the it doesn't take away from the child's social interaction.

Week 6
I thought that this week's activity were resourceful. Everyone needs to learn how to promote themselves. The brochure wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. After I saw the example, it came very easy. My brochure is very informing. It is very easy to read and I believe it will break the barrier between a student and teacher. This is a way that the parents and the students can get to know me. The only thing that I believe that I need to go over is the teaching philosophy.
I like desktop Publishing. My computer has the older version, but it still is helpful. The outlines that it provides are very easy to re-create. You can also make newsletters, invitations, certificates, and lots of other things. I believe that I would make certificates for my class. I believe that recognition of good deeds and success are important. So I would most definitely make certificates.

Week 4 Inspiration
Inspiration is a nice program, this week is the first time that I heard about it. I like this program. It would be very useful for teachers. It would be helpful to kids that have problems writing and doing projects. It is very easy to maneuver.
I believe that outlines and powerpoints would be the best way to use writing and technolgy in the classroom. Both are very distinct, you can provide the student with only the important information. The best ways to help children with writing assignments, are giving both positive and negative feedback. Feedback is very important. It allows students to learn what they are doing wrong and what things are good. Blogging is the best technology tool to use when providing feedback.

Week 3 Reflections
I really have learned a lot this week. Actually the last couple of weeks. I've heard about blogs but wasn't familiar with them. Blogging is fun, it allows us to interact with each other in a modern fashion. This week I learned how to use bookmarks. Bookmarks made retrieving sites easier. I also learned how to narrow down search terms, so that information is esier to retrieve.

assignment 1
Using blogs would be useful. I believe that most students are somewhat familiar with blogs and their setup. Blogs would be useful in education because it allows students to interact with others students. The students are able to voice their opinions about subjects and express their understanding of the material. Objective based blogs are not a waste of time. Blogs are only a waste of time, if there is no content being discussed. Teachers can use blogs and tehnology to keep students entertained and motivated to do their work. Blogs can be fun to use and easy to understand.
